Margaret C. Etter Early Career Award

2011 Winner: Dr. Yurij Mozharivskyj, Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology and Member of the Brockhouse Institute for Materials Research McMaster University will receive the 2011 Margaret C. Etter Early Career Award from the American Crystallographic Association for his achievements.

The Margaret C. Etter Early Career Award is to recognize outstanding achievement and exceptional potential in crystallographic research demonstrated by a scientist at an early stage of their independent career. Established in 2002 as an annual award, it consists of a monetary award of $1,000 and plaque.

Dr. Mozharivskyj is recognized for his outstanding achievement where he has applied the techniques and theory of crystallography at a high level in his exploration of the structure-property relationships in complex functional materials through the detailed study of phenomena such as phase transitions, structural disorder, twinning and diffuse scattering.  Important problems in a wide class of materials of intense current interest including thermoelectric, magnetocaloric materials and high-temperature superconductors have been addressed.

Dr. Mozharivskyj will receive his Margaret C. Etter Early Career Award at the American Crystallographic Association, Inc. 2011 Annual Meeting and his award will be announced in the ACA Newsletter.
