The Nicolet 6700 is a state of the art Fourier Transform IR/Visible spectrometer. It was installed in July 2008. It is equipped to analyze samples from 200 um to approximately 380 nm. It has the following equipment:
Beamsplitters
- Substrate for Far IR
- Extended Range KBr for Mid IR
- Quartz for the Near IR and Visible Regions
Sources
- Everglo source
- White Light Source
Detectors
- Polyethylene for Far IR
- DTGS room temperature for Mid IR
- InGaAs detector for Near IR
- Quartz detector for Near IR and Visible
- MCT/A Liquid Nitrogen cooled detector for high sensitivity in the Mid IR
The instrument is equipped with several modules to allow for analysis of several kinds of samples
- Single Bounce ATR Module - ZnSe Crystal
- Multi Bounce ATR Module - flat and trough plates - ZnSe crystals
- DRIFTS Module
- Vertical ATR with ZnSe and KRS-5 crystals
- Grazing Angle Specular Reflectance module
- Variable Angle Specular Reflectance module
The software used on the instrument is the versatile OMNIC Version 8.0, equipped with the ValPro Validation package for monthly calibrations
