Submitting Samples From Academia
- Samples can be submitted to the CAOS Facility Manager in ABB 230 or through the main chemistry office in ABB 156.
- Samples must be clearly identified and be accompanied by the appropriate sample submission form.
- Current sample turnaround can be found on the Status Page for the facility.
Submission Forms
- FTIR - methods available include transmission, ATR, DRIFTS, Grazing Angle, and liquid cell work. Quantitation available upon request, but it may require some method development.
- UV-Vis - multiple methods are available for use both with and without temperature control (-10 deg C to 100 deg C available on the Cary 300). Standard methods such as scanning over a spectral region and reading at a particular wavelength are available.
- Laser Raman - spectral analysis is available for 2 wavelengths, 514 and 785 nm. Mapping for components is also available.
- Elemental Analysis - EA is available in 3 modes: CHN, CHNS and O. Samples submitted should have at least 30 mg available to retrieve out of the container, any unused sample can be returned. All samples should be free flowing powders and dry.
The sample on the left constitutes a poor sample for Elemental Analysis, the sample on the right constitutes a good sample for Elemental Analysis.
Not sure what your sample needs? Then fill out the General Submission Form and describe what you want out of your analysis.
