McMaster Regional Centre for Mass Spectrometry (MRCMS) Print E-mail

The McMaster Regional Centre for Mass Spectrometry was officially opened in 1986 with funding provided by NSERC and McMaster University grants. The Facility is operated by a professional manager, a Research Scientist, a Bio MS specialist and two technologists and houses seven mass spectrometers. The service personnel provide mass spectrometric service by analyzing approximately 4000 individual samples per year for many clients both within the McMaster community and various external institutions and are willing to undertake both service and project work with individual clients. Individual samples are usually analyzed within two days of submission. Information regarding requests for MS services and service charges is available by contacting the facility manager or director. The combination of instruments described below along with the expertise of the staff makes the Facility one of the best equipped in Canada for the structural elucidation/analysis of unknown organic, inorganic, and biochemical materials. Recent developments in the MRCMS facility include the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), instrument validation and documentation practices in adherence to the guidelines of Good Laboratory/Manufacturing Practices (GLP/GMP).
