|Welcome to C&CB Graduate Studies|
Welcome to the Chemistry Graduate Studies web pages of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at McMaster University. We offer a research-intensive program of graduate studies, with the goal of producing world-class research output and high-calibre researchers. This program provides a unique combination of hands-on personal mentorship, access to the most advanced instrumentation and research facilities, a collegial and supportive atmosphere, and opportunities to conduct cutting-edge research in all disciplines of modern chemical science. All students enrolled in the program are expected to conduct original, independent research that is publishable in top-ranked international journals. Our program emphasizes written and oral presentation of research results, with the ultimate goal of training each student to independently acquire, interpret, and present data in professional, publishable form. Formal instruction within the program is provided through a small number of graduate-level courses that focus on fundamental knowledge within the student’s chosen sub-discipline and area of research. Students are expected to complete the course requirements within the first year of their respective degree program, and then use the course content as a basis for independent study throughout their remaining time within the program. Our ultimate goal is to produce a community of students and faculty that work together in the development of a level of research and productivity that is unparalleled within Canada, and to enable students to reach their full professional potential.
We encourage you to browse through the Graduate Studies web pages, and explore the exciting opportunities that our department can provide.
