Welcome to the Moran-Mirabal Group Page!
Our research focuses on utilizing microfabrication and surface chemistry to create biomaterial patterns that can be used to study a variety of biological systems. We combine this approach with various fluorescence microscopy techniques, such as epifluorescence, TIRF, single molecule tracking, FCS, and FRET, to probe the biomolecular interactions that occur between the patterned biomaterials and the cells or biomolecules of interest. Through this approach we aim at understanding the interactions that occur between biomolecules and the role that biomaterial patterns play in nature.
Available Positions:
I am currently seeking highly motivated graduate students interested in conducting experimental research in one of the following areas: development of new biomaterial micro patterning techniques, development of single molecule and super resolution analysis methods, investigation of biomolecular interactions through single molecule techniques. If you are interested, please contact me at moran-mirabal@mcmaster.ca.
